Building a shared standard for how people think, feel and act

Every field that works with people has its own vocabulary for how they differ. The ICA is being built as one common standard: one free test, one published scoring method, one portable results format, one certification and research done in the open.

One language across fields

Coaching and counseling

Development conversations built on a profile the client takes on their own device and brings to the session. Not for clinical diagnosis.

Organizations and teams

Team development and communication: who leads with which faculty, and where a team is thin. One input, never the sole basis for performance decisions.

Hiring and talent

Structured interview questions, role-fit conversations and onboarding, with each candidate's profile compared with the demands of the role. One input alongside interviews and job-relevant assessments, never the sole basis for a hiring decision.

Education and learning

Self-reflection for learners aged 16 and over: how they take in information and approach problems. Never the sole basis for placement or grading.

Wellbeing programs

Non-clinical reflection on stress patterns and growth practices. Not a health assessment.

Research

Published scoring, a fixed results format and consented data make results comparable between studies. Only with separate, explicit consent.

The results format

A standard needs results that travel. Every ICA result, from the website, the offline file or a practitioner's client file, exports to the same structure:

ICA results file, version 1.0
  ica_version
  export_date
  date_completed
  duration_minutes
  responses (40)
  scores: integrative_synthesis, systematic_analysis, social_attunement, environmental_engagement
  faculty_scores: thinking, feeling, willing
  dominant_faculty
  thinking_mode
  profile
  profile_name
  orientation_strength_index

A client can take the test anywhere, keep their own file and share it with any licensed practitioner, who imports it directly.

Built on evidence

The ICA draws on parallels in analytical psychology, behavioral science and neuroscience, and its accuracy is currently being studied in three stages: a pilot with about 200 people, a validation study with about 1,000 and norming with 3,000 or more. Findings are published at each stage, and the standard is refined as the evidence comes in. The research behind the ICA.

Common questions

Is the ICA an industry standard?

It is being built to become one across industries: open access, published scoring, a common results format, certified practitioners and an active research program whose findings are published at each stage.

Can my organization use the ICA?

Yes: for coaching, team development, hiring, learning and wellbeing programs, through licensed or certified practitioners. In hiring and other consequential decisions it is one input, never the sole basis, and it is never used for diagnosis.

Why does a standard need to be free?

A shared language only works if everyone can use it. The test, the scoring and the results format are open; the paid products add depth, training and certification.
